The overcast was just starting to break when I nestled in near the rocks at North Ponto.
The rock dwellers came out immediately to see if I had anything worth eating. I did not but they checked anyway.
The rocks were right there in my face, all that color and geometry stacked up against the shore. Beyond them the beach trailed off into the haze, the waves running in steady and white. I watched surfers pick their way down barefoot, surfboards tucked under their arms, scaling the rocks like it was nothing. Headed for a good set somewhere out there.
I just stayed where I was and painted what I could see.
